Designing homes to suit market conditions: Allcastle Homes

As the price of property and land increases, builders and buyers alike have to find creative ways to maximise the space of the land they have available.

Australia’s major cities are getting denser and denser with the size of blocks decreasing significantly as more people try to move closer to the cities for work, transport and schools.

With these factors in mind, New South Wales-based builder Allcastle Homes has paid close attention to the design of their homes, ensuring they have a style to suit every family and lifestyle, at an affordable price that does not sacrifice luxury. And buyers have noticed.

The new home builders’ market is booming. “The builders’ property market is extremely strong,” says Ann Duong, Marketing Manager at Allcastle Homes. “There is renewed market confidence with buyers responding to record low interest rates. Consumer sentiment is also very positive with Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) relaxing the lending restrictions on banks.”

For the interior of a house, Allcastle ensures their home designs are modern and durable, offering generously sized rooms, open-plan spaces and indoor-outdoor flow.

For the interior of a house, Allcastle ensures their home designs are modern and durable, offering generously sized rooms, open-plan spaces and indoor-outdoor flow. Wanting to offer these designs at affordable prices, Allcastle Homes carefully considers the material palette to ensure high-quality houses that represent value for money. The designs are based on industry trends, client feedback and the use, needs and lifestyle of different customer demographics.

Externally, the façades are designed to complement the natural environment and offer street appeal. They are also designed to maximise natural light and promote cross ventilation thereby reducing energy use. “Customers appreciate a modern aesthetic, balconies with large windows for light and a mixture of materials, however predominantly brick,” says Ann. Brick is durable and robust, easy to maintain and it ages well. Its colour and texture also add warmth and a sense of solidity to the new homes.

For their exterior façades, Allcastle Homes selected Austral Bricks as their supplier due to the brands reputation for quality and durability, and proven popularity with clients. “They offer sustainability, longevity and a wide colour selection, which allows clients to customise the colours in the façade of their home,” says Ann.

Each house design has a predetermined range that clients can choose from. “We recommend all our clients visit the Austral Bricks display centre to see the colour range on a larger scale before they make their choice in our Infinity Selection Studio. A virtual render can also be displayed with their selection, which allows them to see the brick on their home in perspective,” Ann explains.

Allcastle Homes has three new house designs to suit the current market.

The Big Bannaby 33 is designed for first home buyers and investors, offering plenty of space at an affordable price point. Austral Bricks’ aptly named Everyday Life bricks in Leisure are on the side of the house with their warm-grey tone complementing the fresh white cladding. Everyday Life bricks have a unique textured finish and a colour range that blends harmoniously with the landscape and streetscape.

The Gallery and The Crest are designed for various types families with different lifestyles: young couples, downsizers, upsizers and clients wanting to knock down and rebuild with a contemporary new home.

The Gallery is a spacious home that offers resort-style living with generous family spaces and relaxing private spaces. Allcastle Homes selected Austral Bricks’ Whitsunday bricks in Orpheus to complement the resort theme throughout the home. The driftwood-inspired tone pairs well with the timber on the balcony and garage door. The dark-grey colour contrasts with the white cladding and matches the grey around the garage and on the front column.

The Crest features Austral Bricks’ Wilderness bricks in Blackbutt. The bricks form the full structure of the house, and the blackish colour complements the modern design of the façade, which has strong lines, white cladding and a glass balcony. Inspired by the beauty of the Australian landscape, the Wilderness range has subtle depth and colour variation.
